Knits and Leather

I have always loved winter, I am not sure whether it is the layering of clothes and the different textures you can play around with or the hot chocolates and constantly lit candles…. Maybe it’s both.
One of my key pieces all year round is my Topshop Boutique Leather Jacket, for a Leather Jacket it’s a warm one, but when it comes to winter, Leather Jackets aren’t the best at keeping you all snug and cosy.
Pairing a chunky jumper under a Leather Jacket is probably one of my all-time favourite looks. I just love the loose, oversized knit with the structured tight fitting jacket. There is something about it that looks so put together when in actual fact, all you have done is thrown on a jumper with your trusty black jeans, then thrown on your leather jacket to toughen it up a bit. On this particular day it wasn’t as cold as some so a scarf wasn’t needed, if it had of been I would have paired with a thick woollen scarf.

I find myself in winter months living in jumpers, jeans and oversized coats. All items within my outfit usually consist of Grey, Camel and Black and today was no exception. In the winter especially, I try and buy items that I can incorporate into many different outfits so on them freezing cold mornings I don’t have to think about what to wear too much, and I can focus on keeping warm and having my caffeine fix.
I decided to keep this outfit very simple with my black suede ankle boots from KG.
My last pair of black boots were worn to death, so I had been in the market for a new pair for about 6 months, I think I must have tried on/bought about 12 pairs for them all to be sent back. I then came across these from Kurt Geiger via ASOS and I knew instantly that they were the ones. When it comes to black boots, I think of them more as an investment piece so typically I will never buy a cheap pair as I know within 2 months they will be wrecked. These ankle boots have definitely been one of my favourite purchases this year as they are so comfy yet classic and can be put with any outfit to make it look that bit more stylish.

This blog is all about high street affordable, real life outfits that are worn daily by myself. Yes of course sometimes the outfit’s I have styled I may only wear once, this outfit however is an everyday, go to, minimal effort required type of outfit.
I hope you enjoyed this post, I would love to know what your go to outfit is.

Band Tee Meets Metallic

So I am channelling my inner rock chick!
Right now I feel everyone from Gigi to Chelsea Handler is channelling there inner rock chick. Maybe Chelsea even restarted the classic band tee as I’m sure that’s her thang.
This trend is huge for winter and that suits me just fine, as I love being able to throw on a simple tee with jeans then toughen it up with my old faithful leather jacket, some black ankle boots and bag with metal hardware.
Today I decided to really toughen it up with this new metallic biker jacket from Boohoo. I know a metallic jacket right… If you were to tell me last year I would be buying a silver biker jacket this winter I would have told you to ‘do one’ so to speak. However, it’s something I shouldn’t like but I just do. You’ll see this in the next couple of blog posts as there are a couple of A/W pieces in my wardrobe that are metallic, and I’m not talking about sequin’s on this year’s Christmas dress.
Metallic is huge this winter and having a metallic piece in your wardrobe will definitely be giving you a fashion forward wardrobe. I realise that a metallic jacket is quite a bold statement, so if that’s not for you then why not add a metallic clutch or a pair of metallic brogues in to your wardrobe.
Style is all about having fun and having a few metallic items in my wardrobe this winter has definitely made styling outfit’s a lot more fun.
