Knits and Leather

I have always loved winter, I am not sure whether it is the layering of clothes and the different textures you can play around with or the hot chocolates and constantly lit candles…. Maybe it’s both.
One of my key pieces all year round is my Topshop Boutique Leather Jacket, for a Leather Jacket it’s a warm one, but when it comes to winter, Leather Jackets aren’t the best at keeping you all snug and cosy.
Pairing a chunky jumper under a Leather Jacket is probably one of my all-time favourite looks. I just love the loose, oversized knit with the structured tight fitting jacket. There is something about it that looks so put together when in actual fact, all you have done is thrown on a jumper with your trusty black jeans, then thrown on your leather jacket to toughen it up a bit. On this particular day it wasn’t as cold as some so a scarf wasn’t needed, if it had of been I would have paired with a thick woollen scarf.

I find myself in winter months living in jumpers, jeans and oversized coats. All items within my outfit usually consist of Grey, Camel and Black and today was no exception. In the winter especially, I try and buy items that I can incorporate into many different outfits so on them freezing cold mornings I don’t have to think about what to wear too much, and I can focus on keeping warm and having my caffeine fix.
I decided to keep this outfit very simple with my black suede ankle boots from KG.
My last pair of black boots were worn to death, so I had been in the market for a new pair for about 6 months, I think I must have tried on/bought about 12 pairs for them all to be sent back. I then came across these from Kurt Geiger via ASOS and I knew instantly that they were the ones. When it comes to black boots, I think of them more as an investment piece so typically I will never buy a cheap pair as I know within 2 months they will be wrecked. These ankle boots have definitely been one of my favourite purchases this year as they are so comfy yet classic and can be put with any outfit to make it look that bit more stylish.

This blog is all about high street affordable, real life outfits that are worn daily by myself. Yes of course sometimes the outfit’s I have styled I may only wear once, this outfit however is an everyday, go to, minimal effort required type of outfit.
I hope you enjoyed this post, I would love to know what your go to outfit is.

Band Tee Meets Metallic

So I am channelling my inner rock chick!
Right now I feel everyone from Gigi to Chelsea Handler is channelling there inner rock chick. Maybe Chelsea even restarted the classic band tee as I’m sure that’s her thang.
This trend is huge for winter and that suits me just fine, as I love being able to throw on a simple tee with jeans then toughen it up with my old faithful leather jacket, some black ankle boots and bag with metal hardware.
Today I decided to really toughen it up with this new metallic biker jacket from Boohoo. I know a metallic jacket right… If you were to tell me last year I would be buying a silver biker jacket this winter I would have told you to ‘do one’ so to speak. However, it’s something I shouldn’t like but I just do. You’ll see this in the next couple of blog posts as there are a couple of A/W pieces in my wardrobe that are metallic, and I’m not talking about sequin’s on this year’s Christmas dress.
Metallic is huge this winter and having a metallic piece in your wardrobe will definitely be giving you a fashion forward wardrobe. I realise that a metallic jacket is quite a bold statement, so if that’s not for you then why not add a metallic clutch or a pair of metallic brogues in to your wardrobe.
Style is all about having fun and having a few metallic items in my wardrobe this winter has definitely made styling outfit’s a lot more fun.

Taking Some Me Time

After working a long week there is nothing more I like to do than CHILL OUT!
This usually consists of coffee in my favourite cup, getting cosy on the sofa with Roxie, watching an episode of whatever series I’m obsessed with, currently Power! It then involves taking Roxie for a walk to tire her out and maybe a little stop off point to grab a hot chocolate or a tipple of wine (It depends on my mood yanno).
I drink endless cups of tea, currently I am loving Peppermint tea. It will then probably involve watching more of Power or Chelsea on Netflix whilst doing a bit of work on my Blog, this could be taking photos, editing them or writing up a new blog post.
I also try and plan my week ahead so ordering the food shop, organising what nights I can go to the gym, just basic things that may help my week go a little more smoothly. I then love to have a pamper night… yanno really just relax.... light some candles, read my book, exfoliate, put a face and hair mask on and just CHILL THE HELL OUT! Chill usually involves me and G-Diz getting a takeaway and chocolate and watching some Marvel film.
I think every so often people need a whole day to do nothing and not feel guilty about it. This doesn’t happen every Sunday, more often than not I am out shopping or frantically cleaning the house from head to toe because I have been super busy/lazy all week and have not had time. It is also quite possible that I am a little/a lot worse for wear and asking myself for the majority of the day was it really worth that last glass of wine. Ideally though these steps are my Sunday Funday so to speak.

What do you get up to on your lazy day?

KIKO Beauty Review

Last time I was in London I noticed on Regent Street KIKO
As I used to be a regular shopper on Regent Street I know that KIKO never used to be there. Obviously I had to go in and try a few things out.
The first thing I picked up was the 30 days Extension daily treatment mascara, this actually wasn't the one I wanted as the one I originally picked up was a clear mascara that you could wear during the night, unlucky for me that was sold out, so I decided I would purchase this one and apply it every morning before my usual Mascara.
I then also picked up The Extra Sculpt, Waterproof Mascara in Black.
Both of these products were very affordable however, neither have wowed me.  The Extra sculpt Mascara is great at giving your lashes volume and a little length. It does however take ages to dry so you can't coat your bottom lashes straight away as I am always left with black splodges over my just done eyeshadow.

I can't really say that I have seen a great improvement in my eyelashes with the 30 days treatment mascara. I have to be honest though and tell you I definitely have not used it for 30 consecutive days, whether that's the reason I haven't noticed a difference I don't know.  I do like to use this mascara on minimal makeup days though as it gives me a light coat and I feel like i'm giving my eyelashes a pamper so to speak.

I would definitely like to try some of their other products, they had a lot of different lip products that intrigued me so they will probably be on my list for next time.

Let me know what you think of KIKO products.

The Wide Leg

The wide leg trouser is huge this year and I am absolutely loving it. I can't really believe it as I am a total skinny jean girl however, these days it's all about the wide leg and comfiness.
I find myself always in black, nude, grey or white... and there is nothing wrong with that. Sometimes however, I feel that my outfit may need to be uplifted so to speak. For this I tend to add a pop of colour through my accessories.
For this outfit I teamed these wide leg trousers with a grey ribbed crop from H&M, my metallic sandals from Office and added the pop of colour through this bag from Zara. This bag is about 3 years old now and every summer it always makes an appearance, I didn't realise when I bought this bag just how much I would use it. These particular wide leg trousers are from H&M and I think they retail for around £30 which I find very reasonable considering I would usually spend over £40 for some skinny jeans that usually fade from washes. I do find that I always have to try on this style of trouser before buying as I am quite tall so I always find that the best option for me may be in the tall section.

Let me know if you like the outfit and if you are loving this trend.
